I agree with that, but I still think it leaves the bill with an ambiguity that should be resolved. I would like to take away that discretion from the Prime Minister. This would make it a cleaner and sharper bill. Of course, if we wrote into the law that the Senate election result was binding, then it would simply be a matter of the Governor General's taking note of the result and there would be no necessary role for the Prime Minister.
