Luc Malo Bloc Verchères—Les Patriotes, QC

We'll have to dispose of both quickly, in that case.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

You say one, that you're agreeing to the one on the CRTC and Internet?

5:15 p.m.

Conservative

Jim Abbott Conservative Kootenay—Columbia, BC

The motion on the Internet could be disposed of very quickly.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

Does everyone support it?

The first one received is the motion on the CRTC and the Internet.

That's the one we're dealing with now.

5:15 p.m.

Bloc

Maria Mourani Bloc Ahuntsic, QC

Mr. Chairman, I could solve your problem by withdrawing the motion on film production certificates.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

You're withdrawing it?

5:15 p.m.

Bloc

Maria Mourani Bloc Ahuntsic, QC

Yes, since we had an opposition day on the subject.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

All right.

(Motion withdrawn)

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

And there are no objections to the motion concerning the Internet?

5:15 p.m.

Bloc

Maria Mourani Bloc Ahuntsic, QC

No.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

Mr. Siksay, are you comfortable with that one too--the first motion, the one dealing with the CRTC and the Internet? If there's no objection, it's carried.

(Motion agreed to [See Minutes of Proceedings])

5:15 p.m.

Bloc

Maria Mourani Bloc Ahuntsic, QC

I want to thank my colleagues.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

I want to mention two things.

We have on schedule in the first hour on Tuesday, March 11, Mr. Patrone, who is appearing on his appointment to the CRTC. In the second hour we'll have a panel continuing on the bill that we're dealing with.

That would probably be the following Thursday. Depending on what the Chairman wants, we could do the clause-by-clause consideration of the bill when we come back.

Yes, Madame Mourani.

5:15 p.m.

Bloc

Maria Mourani Bloc Ahuntsic, QC

Mr. Chairman, that's not a problem for me, but I would also like us to be able to hear our witnesses. We may need one or two additional meetings.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

That's fine.

5:15 p.m.

Bloc

Maria Mourani Bloc Ahuntsic, QC

Let's not close the door to that possibility.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

We're not closing the door.

Mr. Scott.

Andy Scott Liberal Fredericton, NB

Has the committee taken a decision in terms of estimates?

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

No.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

Andy Scott Liberal Fredericton, NB

So we'd better today decide whether we want to deal with estimates.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

I would, as chair here, say that the committee's not having.... They will be deemed reported and adopted--today.

5:15 p.m.

Conservative

Ed Fast Conservative Abbotsford, BC

When is the deadline?

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

The deadline will be next week.

But Tuesday is already taken. If we don't deal with them, folks, they will be deemed adopted. But we're not going to deal with them right now. I'm going to pile this back into the chair's lap.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

Andy Scott Liberal Fredericton, NB

What I meant was that if we don't decide we're going to deal with them, we will make a decision by default.

5:15 p.m.

Liberal

The Vice-Chair Liberal Mauril Bélanger

That's correct. A decision by default is that they're deemed accepted. We can't deal with that right now, so the parties who wish to deal with them could bring this up on Tuesday, or in between.
