Mr. Chairman, I agree with my colleague. I think that in this particular instance, the Committee should focus more, and with more rigour than in the past, on the Estimates. For political reasons, as you may recall, Mr. Flaherty's last budget set aside some $2 billion for climate change and environmental protection initiatives. Since programs are now being reviewed and abolished, our study of government expenditures and estimates is becoming increasingly important. The Committee should pay particular attention -- far more than in previous years -- to the Estimates this time around. While we haven't usually paid much attention to the budget in past years, I think we need to be more rigourous this time around.
