The issue is bigger than privacy. You need to go up a notch and get into ownership and control because we're talking about issues of power. Privacy is definitely an issue.
I'm going to give you the example from the Sidewalk Toronto project that concerns me and might indicate a solution. One track...and I totally agree. I think we're looking for a bundle of solutions here, not one. In city planning people are looking for more data. They say they need better data, more data, and they need to use that data to inform public service delivery. We should not be losing control of the inputs to our policy creation, whether it's in vehicles or ways of getting at data or ownership or access to data. This is just one little example that applies across every piece of every policy in this country. Honestly, we cannot lose access to data that we need to make policy and that is what is further down the line. When you lose control of data, that for me is terrifying.
