There has been quite a lot of interest from you collectively and from others across the country in some form of augmentation in the Canada Pension Plan or in other means of increasing basic pensions from, say, something on the order of $10,000 to something on the order of $20,000. That idea has a lot of appeal.
Mr. Lamoureux and Ms. Eng, could you give us an idea of how much extra premium would be required? My understanding is that the increase in this benefit would have to be phased in very gradually over 20 years or more. Could you give us some idea of the order of magnitude of these calculations?
