Mr. Chair, since my motion regarding the Governor General was ruled out of order, I would like to propose another.
We know that, on September 25 of this year, the media reported that the Governor General was unable to converse in French during a visit to Quebec, despite the $128,000 in training that was supposed to help her learn French.
My new motion is that the committee report to the House of Commons a reminder to the current Prime Minister and every subsequent one to choose a Governor General who speaks both official languages of Canada. That isn't attack on the person in the role of governor general. Speaking languages other than the two official languages—
