Indeed, I wish to assure the committee that we do have some levers available to us without any new legislation, for instance, to protect the supply of medications and the safety of Canadians. Upon recognizing a potential threat, certainly I would be coming to you and to Parliament with a plan to protect supply. But that doesn't exist at present. Indeed, since that resolution was adopted by this committee, there has been a noticeable downturn of this transborder activity. Whether it's because of the Canadian dollar or whether it's because of the new pharmaceutical plan the Americans are rolling out across their country, there has been at the very least a 20% decline in this kind of activity.
So we're monitoring it very closely. From time to time I do get questions from the American authorities, and my answer is the same to them, that we're monitoring the situation. Certainly when it comes to the access to drugs and the health and safety of Canadians, that will be my rule of thumb when dealing with this issue.
