We can really learn from the Canadian military and veterans that have really invested a lot in improving access to psychological and psychiatric treatments. They've shown and I'm submitting an abstract of a study that shows that earlier access to appropriate treatment improves outcomes. If you think about someone who has diabetes and they suffer for a long time, that can have a really negative impact on their life and their family. Similarly with post-traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety, if we can reduce the waiting times and improve access to evidence-based treatment...We know that treatments exist and are effective, but due to the fact that we don't have enough funding for mental health services in Canada in general, many people wait a long time for services.
