We heard testimony from various witnesses about alternatives, which suggested that these alternatives should be used more often. The Toronto bail program, a community-based supervision program for foreign nationals, is just one example. Electronic monitoring and women's shelters were other viable alternatives discussed in committee.
Has CIC or CBSA studied alternative strategies besides detention, and if so, can you share your findings with the committee?
