But the loss is 1.6%. Generally, bank losses overall, across a bank, are less than 100 basis points and sometimes less than 50. A loss of 1.6% is not huge. In fact, the Business Development Bank of Canada's loan losses are over 2%, and they still make half a billion dollars in profit a year.
