I can really only speak to initiatives by the U.S. government, although I know that many other countries, like Australia and England, and many world leaders have at least called for the release of Liu Xiaobo.
On specific initiatives that I can speak to in the United States, apart from whatever President Obama is doing privately, or what the White House or State Department is doing, our U.S. Congress has been quite outspoken. They've taken a number of initiatives, including writing letters to President Hu and President Obama calling for the cases to be raised, and calling for China to commit itself to the rule of law, and to commit itself to its own law, and international law.
