I don't think what you're talking about is actually contributing to the future development of democratization there. Mr. Neve mentioned that the state of emergency has been extended six times. I guess many of us are concerned about what we consider to be a somewhat unusual referendum held for the purpose of extending the president's powers to reduce the oversight power of Parliament and increasing the appointment of political appointees to the judiciary. It has been extended numerous times since then.
Again, it must be a huge challenge dealing with the world's largest terrorist organization, but it's obvious that this is more about the president confirming and extending his powers than it is about a threat to those powers.
