Canada is very active both diplomatically and politically. It has also been very active in the development initiatives we are working on. As to the hybrid court, that commitment was made in the peace agreement that was signed. We are working with the African Union to ensure that all the measures stipulated are implemented as quickly as possible. Thus far, the Union has faced a number of challenges, but Canada has clearly stated its position on this issue, and on all matters involving individuals who committed crimes or violence being brought before the appropriate authorities.
As I said earlier, Canada supports the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. Our officials look after intelligence, planning, and other logistical issues. All of this helps inform the appropriate authorities that everyone will be aware of the abuses committed. Canada has supported the United Nations reports on South Sudan. We are working with the others to make sure that the recommendations put forward are implemented by the various authorities.
