The indicative timeline for case handling is actually 12 months: three months for the initial decision to decide whether to accept the case or not, around six months for the mediation process itself, and then three months to close the case. Across the board, some cases are completed in that amount of time, others shorter, and several have gone on quite a bit longer as well. That can be down to a whole bunch of different reasons.
This is a voluntary process and once both parties, the company and the submitter, agree to sit down together and enter into mediation, sometimes it can take longer, but the essential part is really getting them to come together around the table. That doesn't always happen either. It's voluntary for the companies to engage, but on the whole, 12 months is the ideal timeline.
