The Chair (Hon. Judy A. Sgro (Humber River—Black Creek, Lib.)) Liberal Judy Sgro

This is an interesting meeting with all of us here, so we'll all have to have a little bit of patience while we try to move along on our agenda tonight.

Are there any comments on the proposed agenda? Is the committee in favour of the agenda that was sent to you all?

I'm not seeing any opposition, so I'll just keep moving forward.

We're joined, of course, by Robert Benoit, the principal clerk, who is going to guide us through our committee work tonight.

Mr. Benoit, do you want to say a few words before we start the meeting?

The Clerk of the Committee Mr. Robert Benoit

Actually, Madam Chair, I was wondering if you were going to say a few announcements at the beginning, but I can mention them if you'd like.

Go ahead.

7:35 p.m.

The Clerk

Before we start, I just want to make a few announcements.

Tonight we have Mr. Scarpaleggia—I don't believe he's here—and there's also Mr. Warkentin. They were both elected chairs since the last Liaison Committee meeting, so we'd like to wish them a warm welcome to this liaison meeting.

Further, Marcus Pistor, who was formerly assigned as a library analyst to the Liaison Committee for several years, is now director general at the parliamentary information and research service at the Library of Parliament. Christine Ivory takes his place as senior director of the economics, resources and international affairs division, and she is one of the Library of Parliament analysts for the Liaison Committee.

Welcome, Christine.

She's part of the zoom call.

We also have present tonight Frédéric Forge, who is our second analyst. He's the chief of the environment, fisheries and agriculture section.

The Chair Liberal Judy Sgro

Thank you very much, Mr. Benoit, I appreciate your doing that.

Welcome to all of our new folks who are going to be with us whenever we have our liaison meetings.

Okay, the committee's in agreement with the agenda.

I would invite the clerk to proceed with the election of the vice-chair.

David Sweet was the previous vice-chair, but he has stepped down from that role, so we need to elect another vice-chair.

7:35 p.m.

The Clerk

Thank you, Madam Chair.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the vice-chair must be a member of the official opposition.

I'm now ready to receive motions for the vice-chair.

I nominate Marilyn Gladu.

7:40 p.m.

The Clerk

Ms. Block has moved that Marilyn Gladu to be elected as vice-chair of the committee.

Are there any further motions? Seeing none, is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?

(Motion agreed to)

The Chair Liberal Judy Sgro

It looks like everybody's in favour. Terrific.

Congratulations, Ms. Gladu. There's another notch on your belt there or another thing that you're doing. Thank you very much. We're glad to have you with us.

Do I have agreement that the committee will proceed now to sit in camera to discuss committee business? Is anybody opposed? Okay.

We are going to have to shift. You should have received all the information on how to close this Zoom link and go into another one with another password. Then we will have to do the sound checks all over again.

If everybody can just close off and reconnect through the second Zoom link and password that you all should have.

[Proceedings continue in camera]
