It reminds me that when the forces of Julius Nyerere, at the time President of Tanzania, invaded Uganda to oust Idi Amin, African leaders publicly denounced the Tanzanian government and privately congratulated him—hypocrisy gone wild, of course. He was going in basically on the issue of the responsibility to protect, although it wasn't around then but was obviously an issue, and at the same time that the hypocrisy that “we want to deal with sovereignty” was paramount.
