The unmanned combat aerial vehicle idea that culminates, really, in unmanned dogfights among drones, seems to me extraordinarily far off in the future. Providing something that is controlled from afar...and I'm glad you read those elements in my paper, sir, and I would just restate them. Dealing from afar, that is, having the pilot out of the airplane in a control station, has to be a limitation. Even momentary delays in communications and the trickiness of situation awareness lead me to think that would be a dicey sort of operation.
In terms of autonomous use, that is, vehicles operating on just their internal and artificial intelligence, I don't see that probably in my lifetime. I think it will be decades.
