Mr. Harvey.

TJ Harvey Liberal Tobique—Mactaquac, NB

My recommendation to you, Mr. Cannings, would be to withdraw the motion and table it again at another time in the future that better reflects what the constraints of the committee are and our ability to move on that motion.

Richard Cannings NDP South Okanagan—West Kootenay, BC

I'll just let this go to a vote, and if it fails, I'll reintroduce it later, but I think it's important.

Can we have a recorded vote, please?

The Chair Liberal James Maloney

Okay.

Would anybody else like to speak to the motion before we vote?

Mr. Lemieux.

Denis Lemieux Liberal Chicoutimi—Le Fjord, QC

Mr. Cannings, based on my understanding of your proposol, we could even do this as late as the end of next year. Is that correct?

Richard Cannings NDP South Okanagan—West Kootenay, BC

Again, I think the wording is “at the Committee's earliest convenience”, and it set the end of June 2017 as the report date. If that's not possible, I'd entertain motions to change it, but I would like to get started on this at our earliest convenience, and, looking at the schedule, I think there are meetings and opportunities for us to get going on it.

The Chair Liberal James Maloney

Thank you.

All right, let's put it to a vote.

(Motion negatived: nays 7; yeas 2)

Thank you, Mr. Cannings, and thank you, everybody. That takes care of all the business for today.

We will see you on Tuesday.

The meeting is adjourned.
