I now declare this 17th meeting of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts in order.

Colleagues, we had scheduled today as a report-writing day. However, beforehand, we have a matter of what I hope will be straightforward housekeeping. With the change of Mr. Simms leaving the committee and going to another one, and Ms. Jones coming on the committee, a vacancy has been created. Today what we need to do is replace Mr. Simms. I see Mr. Albas looking to move this along, with his hand in the air.

Mr. Albas, you have the floor.

Dan Albas Conservative Okanagan—Coquihalla, BC

Thank you.

First, I'd like to thank Mr. Simms for being on the committee with us. He's a very good person to work with. I certainly wish him well on whichever committees he's assigned to from here.

That said, Mr. Chair, and to take care of business, I would like to nominate Yvonne Jones as the new second vice-chair.

The Chair NDP David Christopherson

Thank you.

The floor is open. Are there any further nominations?

Further nominations? This is the third and final call for nominations.

Hearing none, I declare nominations closed, and in the absence of a race, will declare Madam Jones the new vice-chair of the public accounts committee of Canada in absentia. I extend the thanks of the committee to Mr. Simms.

All right, colleagues. Thank you. What we'll do now is suspend for just a moment while we do the technical reset and reconvene in camera.
