The final point I want to make is that the court challenges program did more than just fund individual test cases. It also funded groups to do research and to engage in conferences and other educational activities around equality rights. To conclude, I just want to highlight that although the court challenges program was not a panacea for all the changes that we need to secure a more equitable and just society, in my view the decision to discontinue funding nevertheless has serious negative effects on the lives of women, particularly some of the most vulnerable women in our society.
