The bottom line, however, is that I just read a letter from policy, from bureaucrats, at the Department of Foreign Affairs who were concerned that the change in language actually impacted on policy, especially the term “gender equality”. It is my understanding that Mr. Weetman suggested that this changed policy.
CIDA's policy is very different. CIDA is not the group that was asked to appear before us, in any case. They asked if they could come. But they do not deal with some of the other issues we were talking about here because they're not within their mandate.
