Mr. Speaker, it is not for me to comment on decisions of the Speaker but I think you have made the correct procedural ruling. It is hard to speak to something that is no longer on the floor, although obviously the feelings of members who wish to speak to the bill are somewhat hurt, shall we say, by the fact that as a result of a procedural error someone else got to speak after the motion no longer existed and the subject matter was referred to committee.
I simply want to indicate that I am glad there was an agreement to send the subject matter to committee. It is second best. I wish we could have passed the bill. Had I had an opportunity to support the bill I certainly would have, and had I had an opportunity to speak in support of the bill I certainly would have, but I understand why that is not now possible.
