Mr. Speaker, I listened with great interest to the Leader of the Opposition.
We in the Liberal Party share the concern that he has expressed with respect to the need for humanitarian assistance. Last September, I had the pleasure of going to Iraq with his foreign affairs critic. Last May, I also went to a camp in northern Jordan which had Syrian refugees. There was no question about that.
Today our party, through our leader, made a commitment, if we are the government, to take 25,000 government-sponsored refugees into Canada.
One additional element that does differentiate our parties is the fact that we have also said it is important to provide a training capability to Iraqi security forces.
I would like to hear from the Leader of the Opposition on what he thinks of that idea.
