Topics

The Assistant Deputy Speaker Anthony Rota

Is there another point of order? One moment, please.

I want to point out that any member has to be in the House for the beginning of the reading of the motion and be in his or her seat for the vote. I have to take the hon. member at his word, that he was here for the whole thing.

Matthew Dubé NDP Beloeil—Chambly, QC

Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of order. I know we are making a lot of exceptions about having food in the House and about photos being taken in the House. However, when it comes to the fact that we have to wear a tie to be recognized to speak in this place, could we have a little more decorum, despite the fact that we have been here for a certain amount of time?

The Assistant Deputy Speaker Anthony Rota

I want to remind hon. members that food and photos are not allowed in the chamber. As for ties, men are obliged to have a tie in order to speak in the House. I am afraid I cannot judge fashion sense; I cannot rule on that.
