Opposition Motion—National Security Adviser to the Prime MinisterBusiness of SupplyGovernment Orders

5:10 p.m.

Liberal

Marco Mendicino Liberal Eglinton—Lawrence, ON

I thought all the noise was in support of the comments I was offering to this chamber, Mr. Speaker.

As I was saying, the Prime Minister has mandated that every minister shine more light on government to ensure that it remains focused on the people that it serves. Government and its information should be open by default. If we want Canadians to trust their government, we need a government that trusts Canadians.

Our record on this is clear. Canadians trust us. That is because we are open and transparent, and merit based in a way that is completely foreign to the other side. We will continue to defend those principles to the last.
