Madam Speaker, I rise on a point of order. There has been a new development that I believe will necessitate reconsideration of whether we continue.
As members know, the stumbling block to put an end to this marathon voting is our demand that the ethics committee begin and conclude an investigation into the SNC-Lavalin cover-up. Government members have refused. They have been here all night, fighting against exposing the truth.
However, just moments ago a story broke in Maclean's magazine in which the outgoing Liberal Treasury Board president said, “there’s much more to the story”. She further went on to say that there had been an effort to shut down the story. In light of that news, I know there will be government members who will want to shed light on this. I ask that they rise and do that now so we can agree to end the marathon voting, end the cover-up at the same time, and let Canadians know the truth.
