Mr. Speaker, first, I am proud our government has taken the necessary steps to ensure public safety by prohibiting a significant number of weapons that, frankly, have no place in a civil society. That overwhelmingly is agreed to by the vast majority of Canadians and in most other sensible countries that have taken similar steps.
We are also examining, through the public service, the means by which we can most effectively and fairly deal with those individuals who currently possess those weapons now that they are prohibited. We will do the work necessary to ensure that all Canadians' interests are addressed properly.
