Mr. Speaker, I would first say that the programs we have put in place, including the wage subsidy, are there because we actually want employers to keep their employees on the payroll, rather than laying them off. That is the preferred method.
We have had to very, very quickly put measures in place that would help the most people the quickest, because we are seeing unprecedented unemployment in this country. One of the things I talked about in my speech was that I have been on those phone calls every single day at 4:30 with members, like the members opposite, raising where the gaps are, where there are things that have not been addressed, because we are the ones who are on the front line hearing from our constituents every day, all across the country. I think that has been working very effectively because we have been able to address those gaps, and I thank my hon. colleague for doing so today.
