Mr. Speaker, I want to talk about that further. There was $1 billion: $500 million went to the lumber producers and $500 million went to the Bush administration. The B.C. business council described it as a raw deal. I think it is therefore erroneous to suggest that it set us up for some type of utopian experience with softwood lumber. In fact, article 1905 was harshly criticized because it limited our responses after that.
I think it is important to recognize that this deal left $1 billion of Canadian money at the table. I do not think the member should paint it as the glorious result that is being suggested in this debate.
