Madam Chair, I think about today when I went to the Native Women's Association. I was sitting here thinking, “I need a red dress pin, I need a red dress pin”, and I ran over there and got it. I jumped into a cab and got red dress pins for me and a couple of my ladies.
There are the relationships to be built and the culture. I went into the red dress room to take in some of the history of what had happened. Understanding the culture is definitely something that we can do as well as sitting and having those conversations with indigenous people to share their experiences. We learn more when we are listening.
