Statements in the House

Sponsorship Program April 14th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, it seems it was a selective Liberal scope.

Forensic auditor and corporate fraud expert Al Rosen has damned the Liberal Party review as nothing more than “wishy-washy and useless”. The public works minister tried to pass them off as audits. Mr. Rosen's response to this was that the minister's reviews were “half-baked”.

The books were cooked, the reviews were half-baked and Canadians got burned.

Is the real reason the books were cooked so that the Liberals could use the dirty money for their fourth election campaign?

Sponsorship Program April 14th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, Mr. Rosen did not rip off taxpayers to make his contribution, I will say that.

When the auditors cannot reach a clear conclusion about the financial statements, then something is not being admitted. What the Liberal Party is not admitting is that it did everything it could to cover its tracks. Even auditor Al Rosen has said so.

Will the government admit that what it absolutely does not want is to find any traces of the dirty money, and that it has no intention of paying back the Canadian taxpayers?

Liberal Party of Canada April 13th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, here is what senior Liberal organizer Beryl Wajsman said in Le Devoir about what the Liberal Party really thinks about ethnic minorities: “The Liberal Party of Canada needs the cultural communities only for two purposes, as slaves during an electoral campaign, or to buy tickets”.

The Prime Minister claims that he has the moral authority. How can he explain the immoral contempt his party has for new Canadians?

Sponsorship Program April 13th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister claimed that some swindlers had organized a parallel system of funding for the Liberal Party in Quebec.

Beryl Wajsman, a Liberal, said that the only parallel funding system that existed in the Liberal Party was the one set up by friends of the Prime Minister.

Will the Prime Minister finally stop denying his involvement in his party's dubious funding and admit that his henchmen helped him finance his campaign through illicit means?

Liberal Party of Canada April 13th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister referred to himself as having the moral authority to lead Canada out of the scandal ridden quagmire that the Liberal Party has landed in.

However, the real truth has come out and it is not pretty. His conspirators in the Liberal Party have revealed their utter contempt for Canadians of non-white origin. In fact, cultural communities are only welcomed by Liberals as slaves during elections and leadership campaigns, according to Liberal organizer Beryl Wajsman who said in today's Le Devoir “Every time the Liberal Party needs cultural communities, it is for two reasons: as slaves during an election campaign or to buy tickets”.

This is outrageous coming from one of the Prime Minister's closest organizers. It shows the real Liberal attitude toward ethnic communities. They expect them to show up and vote Liberal, but really think of them as nothing more than their personal property.

I demand that the Prime Minister stop thumping his chest about his moral authority, and apologize to every Canadian he and his party has ever exploited.

Mr. Speaker, the transport minister describes high profile Liberal operatives Joe Morselli and Tony Mignacca as “political plumbers, acting behind the back of an unsuspecting party”, yet they are published in pictures with former public works minister Alfonso Gagliano and other influential Liberals. It seems like the sewage is backing up.

By calling them political plumbers, is the transport minister trying to tell us that the real rot is much higher up in the Liberal Party?

Sponsorship Program April 11th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, Jacques Olivier is the mayor of Longueuil and a former federal Liberal minister. He gave Jean Brault the following advice, “Tag along with Corriveau, it will open doors for you”. And what doors! Through his affiliation with Corriveau, Brault donated $1.4 million to the Liberal Party of Canada, in exchange for sponsorship contracts amounting to $61 million.

How can the Prime Minister continue denying the facts, when all his associates knew where to get dirty money?

Petitions March 23rd, 2005

Mr. Speaker, the final petition deals with autism.

The petitioners call on Parliament to amend the Canada Health Act and corresponding regulations to include therapy for children with autism as a medically necessary treatment and require that all provinces provide or fund this essential treatment for autism, and also to contribute to the creation of academic chairs to a university in each province to deal with the treatment for autism.

Petitions March 23rd, 2005

Mr. Speaker, I have three petitions I would like to present.

Two of the petitions have a number of names from the Edmonton area. The petitioners call upon Parliament to pass legislation to recognize the institution of marriage in federal law as being the lifelong union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others.

Mr. Speaker, something disturbing happened during question period. I would like to bring it to the attention of the Chair that in my question to the Minister of Public Works I asked about a particular scandal, which was the World Aquatic Championship scandal. Unfortunately, the public works minister thought I was asking about the sponsorship scandal.

I would like to give the minister an opportunity to get his scandals straight.
