Mr. Speaker, my question is for the Minister of Health. A landmark national survey found that depression affects as many Canadians as diabetes and heart disease. Mental illness costs our health care system $5 billion and our economy $13 billion a year. What steps is the government taking to address the alarming findings of this study?
Cambridge Choir September 16th, 2003
Mr. Speaker, the Cambridge Kiwanis Boys' Choir and Young Men's Chorus celebrated its 25th anniversary with performances in cathedrals and historical churches throughout England.
For 25 years, the choir has performed at community centres, senior citizens' residences, and hospitals and churches in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. Founded by James and Jean Kropf, this remarkable choir is a member of the Royal School of Church Music, Choirs Ontario and the Choristers Guild and is supported by the Kiwanis Club of Cambridge. The choir has produced six impressive recordings and has been featured on local and national television.
I join all members in congratulating the Cambridge Kiwanis Boys' Choir and Young Men's Chorus on their many achievements and I wish them another 25 years of success.

Mr. Speaker, I would also like to table two petitions from citizens of the riding of Brant. In the first one, some 80 citizens urge Parliament to protect marriage as a union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others.

Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 36 I have the privilege to present to the House a petition signed by concerned constituents in my riding of Cambridge.
The petitioners call on Parliament to protect the rights of Canadians to express their religious beliefs without fear of prosecution. The petitioners are very concerned that expressing moral disapproval of a sexual practice by citing the Bible or other sacred religious books could be linked to a hate crime charge under Bill C-250.

Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 36 it is my privilege to present to the House a petition signed by hundreds of concerned citizens in my riding of Cambridge.
In Canada one out of four children dies before birth from induced abortion. More than half of all Canadians agree that human life needs protection prior to birth, yet there is still no law protecting unborn children.
The petitioners pray and request that Parliament enact legislation that would provide legal recognition and protection of children from fertilization to birth.

Conestoga College May 12th, 2003
Mr. Speaker, for the fifth year in a row Conestoga College has been rated the number one college in Ontario by the independent key performance indicator survey.
This annual survey ranked Conestoga College in my riding of Cambridge the best among Ontario's 24 colleges. Conestoga topped all colleges on the graduate employment survey with an employment rate close to 94% within six months after completion of studies.
This KPI result reveals Conestoga's continued dedication to excellence and vision for improving its quality of education.
I congratulate the faculty of Conestoga College for implementing successful programs that offer its graduates secure employment after graduation.
