Statements in the House

Canadian War Museum October 28th, 1997

Mr. Speaker, the Canadian War Museum will continue to be recognized as one of the premier museums in Canada. We are hoping that as the Canadian War Museum embarks on its program for the millennium that the very strong support that was shown for the recent medal acquisition will become a giant fundraising campaign for the Canadian War Museum and it will keep its current name.

Outaouais Alliance October 27th, 1997

Mr. Speaker, certainly any encouragement to disobey the law is wrong. Although the Government of Quebec sometimes questions federal legislation on certain matters and is, for instance, questioning election legislation, all political parties and all political actions must respect the law.

We hope that the Government of Quebec is going to respect the Supreme Court decision on signage, and we hope that Outaouais Alliance will do so as well.

Outaouais Alliance October 27th, 1997

Now, in connection with the words of the hon. member opposite, this is the first I have heard of this matter, and I will look into it and get back to him very soon.

Option Canada October 20th, 1997

Mr. Speaker, my answer regarding the money spent by Option Canada is exactly the same as that given by the Government of Quebec regarding Option Quebec.

Option Canada October 20th, 1997

Mr. Speaker, my answer today to the question about the money given to Option Canada is exactly the same as the answer I gave last spring.

Broadcasting October 3rd, 1997

Mr. Speaker, first I must advise the hon. member that I cannot comment on the particulars of the case in relation to the decision of the cabinet about upholding or sending back a CRTC's decision.

Given that a court has already made a ruling on the particulars of the allegation he is making, I think he may unfortunately find himself in contempt of court.

Crtc October 1st, 1997
