Statements in the House

Canada Information Office November 7th, 1996

What I am saying, Mr. Speaker, is that if she wants to know everything that is going on at the Information Canada Office, she has only to drop a line to InfoCan and she will find that there are all manner of programs. The ICO, however, does not give out grants.

Canada Information Office November 7th, 1996

Mr. Speaker, for information on the CIO, I would invite the hon. member across the way to start by going to the World Wide Web site on the Internet, where she will find everything there is available, not only on InfoCan, but also on other components of the department, whose mandate it is to focus on Canadian identity throughout the country.

Expo 2005 November 6th, 1996

Madam Speaker, after consultations there is unanimous consent to move, seconded by the hon. members for Roberval, Calgary Southwest and Winnipeg Transcona a resolution as follows:

That this House unanimously support the bid by Canada to host Expo 2005 in Calgary from May to October 2005, the centennial year of Saskatchewan and Alberta.

The Canadian Recording Industry November 5th, 1996

Mr. Speaker, the recording industry pours $1.2 billion into the Canadian economy and employs 16,000 Canadians.

As a result of the announcement we made this week, 2,000 new jobs will be created, and since we are always trying to create jobs, when we realized that exports have increased 175 per cent in the last decade, we intend to work even harder on this.

Bill C-216 November 5th, 1996

Mr. Speaker, if you follow the logic of the member it should not return back to this House.

Bill C-216 November 5th, 1996

Mr. Speaker, as I said yesterday, I do not accept the claim of the hon. member. In fact, over the course of any legislation any member of Parliament in this place or the other place is entitled to seek a briefing and indeed that was the question in this particular case.

Bill C-216 November 4th, 1996

Mr. Speaker, I do not accept the claim of the hon. member.

Bill C-216 November 4th, 1996

Mr. Speaker, I believe the member is asking for a reflection on the activities of the other place. I think he might want to address his questions to the other place.

The Tobacco Industry November 4th, 1996

Mr. Speaker, the member should wait a few days and he will be apprised then of the package the minister is putting forward.

The Lieutenant Governor Of Quebec November 4th, 1996

Mr. Speaker, if the Lieutenant Governor took part in a public demonstration in 1942, it was surely no secret.
