Statements in the House

Health April 26th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, that is just not true, and that minister does not know his own file. People can fly into the U.S. from India or Pakistan, get in a car and drive across the border. There are no rapid tests at the border.

COVID-19 and double variants have been reported all around the world, including 50 countries, and the Prime Minister is just playing whack-a-mole when it comes to COVID-19. We need to stop flights from all hot spots now and we need to get rapid testing at the border now.

Is the Prime Minister going to wait a day, a week or never to make the right decision?

Health April 26th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, I will answer my own question. The Prime Minister is both grossly incompetent and complicit when it comes to cover-up of sexual harassment in the military.

Once again, the Prime Minister was late at the border, and his measures are not strong enough to make a difference. The Prime Minister has never taken flights coming from hot spots seriously. In fact, today, somebody could fly in from India to Buffalo, New York, hop in a cab and cross the border into Canada. With that comes more COVID variants.

Canadians do want stronger measures. Will the Prime Minister protect our borders?

National Defence April 26th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, the cover-up of General Vance's conduct went to the very top. The Minister of National Defence knew; the former clerk of the Privy Council, Michael Wernick, knew; the Prime Minister's senior adviser, Elder Marques, knew; and now we know the Prime Minister's chief of staff, Katie Telford, knew, but the Prime Minister insists he did not, which leaves us with two options, when it comes to the Prime Minister's attitude toward sexual harassment in the military.

The Prime Minister is either grossly incompetent or he is complicit. Which one does he want Canadians to believe?

Health April 23rd, 2021

Madam Speaker, a month ago, when the Prime Minister was asked if border measures worked, his answer was simple. He said no, they actually do not work, and then he doubled down on that. In fact, since January 2020, including yesterday, when we asked the Prime Minister if he would start to control flights coming to Canada, we got no for an answer. Yesterday, late in the day, the Prime Minister finally got a small ounce of what is common sense to most and suspended flights from India and Pakistan.

How many Canadians are going to be affected by COVID-19 because the Prime Minister was dreadfully late once again in making the right decision?

Health April 23rd, 2021

Madam Speaker, that is not believable. Make no mistake. There are more questions to come for the minister.

Canada has been losing the fight against COVID-19 variants for months. Yesterday, the Prime Minister finally noticed, and he took some advice from the Conservative leader. However, once again, it is too late for many Canadians.

A Brazilian variant outbreak ravaged British Columbia and the Indian variant has been found in three provinces. How much longer will the third wave be in Canada because the Prime Minister was once again slow to act?

National Defence April 23rd, 2021

Madam Speaker, last night Major Kellie Brennan gave powerful testimony. She told the committee that she was intimidated by General Vance into give false testimony. She said he bragged about controlling the military justice system and that he was untouchable and had the Minister of National Defence under his control. This is shocking and deeply disturbing but appears to be true.

Will the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Defence admit that they were complicit in covering up allegations of sexual misconduct and, in doing so, have failed women in the military?

Health April 19th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, it is too little too late.

The Prime Minister had been warned about a third wave since February, but it is April and only 2% of Canadians are fully vaccinated. I repeat: only 2%. Less than a quarter have had even one dose. Every decision the government has made, according to its own experts, has been to compensate for a lack of supply. This third wave is a direct result of the Prime Minister's inaction.

Why are Canadians getting a vaccine plan now for June, instead of April or earlier?

Public Services and Procurement April 19th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, Canadians are in a race against COVID-19 variants that we are sadly losing.

When vaccines get to Canada matters as much as how many arrive. This week's Pfizer shipment, according to experts, will be completely used up in two days. The Prime Minister's February shortages created this April's third wave.

How much longer is the third wave going to be because the government has failed to get enough vaccines on time?

Health April 15th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister's failed vaccine rollout and spin is actually making international headlines.

This morning's cover of the Daily Mail asked if our Prime Minister was jealous of Britain's vaccine delivery. It pointed out that Canada had four times as many new cases per day as the U.K. Prime Minister Johnson said that he did not have a response to our Prime Minister's comments, but that the British case data spoke for itself, because their vaccine rollout is months ahead of ours.

Could the Prime Minister admit that he is not only failing Canadians, but he is making an international fool of himself?

Health April 15th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, that was a really ridiculous thing for the Parliamentary Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister to say. The fact is that the Liberals have messed up so many things in their response to COVID, but they will not admit, they will not learn from it and they will not change it.

Today, we have learned that Moderna vaccines scheduled to arrive mid-April are being delayed yet again, which means provinces are forced to close vaccination clinics and people are not getting their shots. That means higher case counts and more lockdowns.

Responsibility for the third wave is the Prime Minister's. How many more Canadians will be infected with COVID because of the government's disastrous vaccine rollout?
