Mr. Speaker, at a rare press conference, the Conservative leader gave an honest answer about his cuts plan. He said, and I quote, “We're going to cut two programs for sure, and more beyond that.”

Under the Conservatives, Canadians would have fewer homes, and they would be built more slowly. Dental visits would be more expensive. People would retire later, and families would get less support. Cuts, cuts, cuts. It is completely unacceptable.

As I said, Mr. Speaker, I can handle it, but what makes me really mad, what I cannot handle is seeing crocodile tears from those Conservatives. The only time they care, notice, vulnerable Canadians is for a partisan photo op. We know they do not care, because they are opposed to a national school food program, which is feeding 400,000 Canadian kids. They are opposed to dental care, which is helping a million people. We care about Canadians; they just care about themselves.

Mr. Speaker, I am thankful for your remonstration, but speaking for myself, puerile playground insults from the maple syrup MAGA do not bother me one bit.

Finance October 22nd, 2024

Mr. Speaker, I am so glad to hear the Conservatives talk about the PBO, because just a few weeks ago the PBO did a report on the sustainability of the federal finances. I am going to quote what the PBO said, “Current fiscal policy in Canada is sustainable over the long term.” In fact, according to the PBO, the federal government could even, “permanently increase spending...by 1.5 per cent of GDP.”

The only fiscal threat to Canada is the Conservatives, who would cut health care, child care and the national school food program.

The Economy October 21st, 2024

Mr. Speaker, we have clearly knocked the Leader of the Opposition off his game this afternoon. How can he have the temerity to talk about actual meals fed to actual children as bureaucracy? That tells us how cynical these Canadians are and how low they go. Then he talks about inflation. It has been in the Bank of Canada's target range for nine months in a row. It fell below 2% in September and rates have come down three times. That is what is happening with inflation.

The Economy October 21st, 2024

Mr. Speaker, the Conservatives are damning themselves with their own words. I was at a school in downtown Winnipeg on Friday with Premier Wab Kinew, and we gave those beautiful, wonderful children some bannock, a little carton of milk, some jam, some butter and a banana. That was not bureaucracy that fed those kids; that was the deal we did with Manitoba.

The Conservatives are against feeding kids. How could they stand up and be in favour of not feeding kids?

The Economy October 21st, 2024

Mr. Speaker, I really hope that every single MP in the House agrees that in our great country, no one should ever go hungry. However, when the Conservatives talk about the most vulnerable, they are crying crocodile tears. How do I know that? I know that because they have had the gall to vote against a national school food program, a program that will feed 400,000 Canadian kids. How can the Conservatives look themselves in the face when they oppose feeding Canadian kids?

The Economy October 21st, 2024

Mr. Speaker, I am glad the Conservatives are starting off with a question about the Canadian economy. I think we can all be happy knowing that inflation dropped to 1.6% in September, which is a major success story for all Canadians. This will really make a difference in Canadians' lives.

However, the Conservatives do not want to talk about Canadian success stories.

Oil and Gas Industry October 11th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, I thank the member opposite for her hard work for many years fighting for Canadians and speaking up for climate action. I want to go to the issue at the heart of her work, which is the need for strong climate action. I am really proud to be a member of a government that has made climate action a priority. Ours is the only major party that continues to advocate for a price on pollution, the most economically rational way to fight climate change.

Innovation, Science and Industry October 11th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, I see that the Conservatives are not asking very many questions about the economy. Why? I think the answer is obvious. It is because we have good news.

Today, the really good news is that 47,000 good jobs were added to the Canadian economy in September. Meanwhile, wages have been outpacing inflation for the past 20 months. That is good news for Canadians.
