Mr. Speaker, all Canadians must have the opportunity to express their opinion on electoral reform.
This weekend, the Minister of Democratic Institutions said, “As far as any changes around democratic reform, we’re not going to proceed with any changes unless we have broad support.”
We have a good idea for the broad support: have a referendum.

Mr. Speaker, the Minister of Democratic Institutions backed down on the weekend on the issue of electoral reform.
She said, “It means that there needs to be a conversation in the House of Commons including all parties.” Naturally, we agree with her, but she must go even further. I invite the minister to open up to the public.
Will the Prime Minister hold a referendum so that all Canadians can have a say on electoral reform? A referendum is required.

Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her answer.
Naturally, we all have very strong feelings about Bill C-14. Our constituents elected each and every one of us to this place to debate the issues that matter to Canadians. The opposition members have done important work. We produced a dissenting report that was heeded and respected. I thank the government. We need to continue and go even further.
Do the Liberals plan to give members who want to have their say on behalf of Canadians in this debate the opportunity to speak?
Alleged Actions of Prime Minister in Chamber May 19th, 2016
Mr. Speaker, yesterday the Prime Minister let his emotions get the best of him. We knew that, and now the Canadian public knows as well. His behaviour yesterday was unworthy of the office of Prime Minister of Canada.
Can the Prime Minister or one of his representatives explain why he lost his self-control yesterday under the circumstances? Was it because things were not going his way?
Privilege May 19th, 2016
Mr. Speaker, of course, we heard the Prime Minister's apology. From now on, the future is what is important.
The men and women here in the House work really hard to effectively represent their constituents, their province, and their country with dignity and respect.
We think that this week's motion undermines our right to effectively represent our constituents.
Since we are talking about the future and a fresh start, what does the Prime Minister intend to do about that motion?

Mr. Speaker, the agreement was that the most recent election would be the last one that was conducted in that way.
The Liberals say they want to consult Canadians, but they are already making decisions. Consulting Canadians means listening to what they have to say and taking their opinions into account. The decisions that the Prime Minister is currently making show a lack of respect for members of the House.
Will he at least show some respect for Canadians and give them the right to vote in a referendum about their future?

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister mentioned the Liberal platform. What did he say? He said, “We will not resort to legislative tricks...”.
The Prime Minister has failed, because he is already breaking his campaign promises. He does not like answering to a strong opposition. We are going to continue asking questions. He said he wanted to give parliamentarians more power and muscle, but instead he is muzzling them.
Can the Prime Minister tell Canadians and Quebeckers why he is doing the opposite of what he said he would do during the election campaign?

Mr. Speaker, we are extremely proud to have left the government with the best debt-to-GDP ratio and the best job creation record in the G7. We will see what the Liberals end up delivering. Maybe they will deliver nothing more than words. We shall see.
What is the logic behind using social media to hold consultations when it is so hard to know where the social media users are from? Will people from other countries be sharing their point of view?
We think that it is important to know where Canadians stand on this and that there needs to be a referendum.

Mr. Speaker, it is interesting to note that more Canadians voted in the last election than in the past, which means that we did a good job.
It is unfortunate to see that six Liberal MPs will be allowed to decide the future of democracy in this country. It is really unbelievable. The electoral reform that Canadians want should take into account Canadians' views, not just the Liberals' views, as well as their ability to choose.
Will the Prime Minister promise to hold a referendum?

Mr. Speaker, the Liberals just cannot stop breaking their own promises. The same day that they announced new rules for government ads, they broke them with polished visuals of the Prime Minister. The hypocrisy is astonishing.
