Statements in the House

Mr. Speaker, we have already answered that question.

I would like my colleague from Atlantic Canada across the way to tell me how the Conservatives could have voted against investing in small craft harbours. How could they have voted against investing in the Coast Guard? In the supplementary estimates, how could they have voted against investing in gasoline so that the Coast Guard can go help and rescue our fishers when they run into problems at sea?

It is shameful.

Finance December 12th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, we have already answered that question. I would like to know something. We on this side of the House have brought in programs to support women. How is it that the Conservative Party voted against investments in programs such as age well at home, when we know that women live longer than men?

The Conservatives voted against the child care program, they voted against the program to feed kids at school, they voted against the dental care program. The list goes on.

The Economy December 12th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, from introducing the Canada child benefit and the Canada workers benefit to cutting taxes for small businesses, we will always be there for Canadians. By giving Canadians a GST holiday, we are putting a little more money in their pockets during the holidays.

The grinches on that side of the House have nothing to offer but vacuous slogans and empty promises. While the Conservatives busy themselves with political games, our government will work to provide real and meaningful support to Canadians.

Finance December 12th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, Conservative men on the other side can shout all they want, it does not bother me at all. That is all part of being a woman who stands up to men.

It is shameful that, on the opposition side, a woman from Quebec, a work colleague, has the nerve to attack our Minister of Finance, a woman who introduced the Canada child benefit. We implemented a program to help women with child care. We implemented programs to help children—

Mr. Speaker, I can see that the members opposite have learned their lesson. I need not even repeat it.

How can a member of the official opposition, a woman from Quebec, attack our Minister of Finance, a woman who introduced the Canada child benefit, who brought in—

Forestry Industry December 2nd, 2024

Mr. Speaker, we are extremely disappointed that the U.S. Department of Commerce has significantly increased its unfair and unjustified duties on softwood lumber from Canada. These unfair and unfounded U.S. duties on softwood lumber unjustifiably harm consumers and producers on both sides of the border. Canadian workers are being punished by unfair duties, and American companies that rely on Canadian softwood lumber will bear the burden of these duties.

It is in the best interests of both Canada and the United States to find a lasting solution.

The Environment November 7th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, I think that question has already been answered. What Canadians really want to know is that they have a government with the potential to show leadership on national security.

How is it that a Conservative leader who wants to lead the government and one day head up the Coast Guard cannot even get his security clearance? What do the Conservatives have to hide, and what do they not want us to know?

They should do their job and get their security clearance.

Dental Care November 4th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, more than one million Canadians, including nearly 325,000 Quebeckers, have already received care under our dental care program.

The Conservatives are playing games with the health of Canadians and seniors by offering them nothing but slogans and cuts to the programs they need. Canadians and Quebeckers deserve a government that takes care of their health. On our side, we know that the Conservatives are thinking only of making cuts no matter how many seniors are affected.

What is the Conservatives' hidden plan?

The Economy October 31st, 2024

Mr. Speaker, you were right earlier on. We cannot compare people to fictional characters because the reality we see in front of us is worse.

When will my colleagues opposite tell us about the other cuts they intend to make and the most vulnerable people they intend to attack, people who, speaking of housing, are homeless? We look forward to hearing what the Conservatives are going to do. We also encourage them to get their house in order and get their security clearance.

The Economy October 31st, 2024

Mr. Speaker, the Conservative leader and the Conservatives have always shown their true colours. They confirmed that their main plan was to make cuts. With the Conservatives, it is chop, chop, chop. They are going to make cuts in dental care, in help for families, in the Canada child benefit, in small craft harbours, in pharmacare. They get it.

We are scared of the Conservatives. Children are scared of the Conservatives. It is Halloween. We want nothing to do with them.
