Madam Speaker, the Liberal Party and our federal government have always supported supply management. It was our party that created supply management over 50 years ago, and our party will always support it.
The leader of the Conservative Party has not had much to say on this issue. This is because his caucus is divided. It was divided during the last vote here in the House. In contrast, our party unanimously supports Bill C-282, and we expect the other place to pass it.

Madam Speaker, on October 29, the Bloc Québécois pulled the plug on our farmers. The leader of the Bloc Québécois decided that he wants an election more than he wants to ensure that Bill C‑282 passes in the other chamber. That is the reality.
On this side of the House, we call the Senate every day. I encourage the Bloc Québécois to do the same. I know that some Bloc Québécois members are making calls, but I encourage all Bloc Québécois members and the Bloc Québécois leader to call the other chamber as well. It is an independent chamber, and I encourage the Conservative Party to do likewise, because I am not hearing much from the Conservative Party.

Madam Speaker, naturally, the government is always ready to ensure that our borders are protected. The RCMP has operational plans in place to deal with the possibility that a mass of people may try to cross the border.
Of course, we are not going to comment on the operational plans of the RCMP or CBSA, to avoid compromising security.

Madam Speaker, as the Minister of Public Safety said yesterday, both the RCMP and CBSA have operational plans for any eventuality. We can reassure the House. Our borders will be protected.

Mr. Speaker, the member for Cowichan—Malahat—Langford had said that Conservative members were hiding behind the curtain. I said that there is nothing wrong with coming from behind the curtain.
Democratic Institutions October 28th, 2024
Mr. Speaker, almost two years ago, we found out that a number of countries, including China, Russia and India, are trying to interfere with Canada's democratic processes.
Last June, the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians tabled a report alleging that certain parliamentarians are the targets of, or witting participants in, efforts by foreign governments to interfere in Canadian politics. These serious and disturbing allegations have cast a shadow over our democratic institutions.
Ever since then, all but one of the opposition leaders have obtained their security clearance so that they can take action on foreign interference within their party. The public inquiry into foreign interference clearly showed that each member of the House has a duty to fight foreign interference in our democracy.
I have an easy question for the leader of the Conservative Party. When is he going to get his security clearance, take his head out of the sand, and put the safety and security of Canadians ahead of his own partisan interests?
Official Languages October 25th, 2024
Mr. Speaker, before I begin, I would just like to check with the official opposition on whether I can speak in French without being told to “speak English”.
Yesterday, in the House, the Minister of Public Services and Procurement was told by the Conservative member for Brantford—Brant to answer in English. I would like to point out that the member's riding includes 4,000 Franco-Ontarians. Barely a year ago, the Minister of Canadian Heritage was told to answer in English by the Conservative member for Lethbridge.
As the years go by, more Conservative members are telling us to answer in English. It is a refrain they use more often than their slogans. It seems that the “speak white” culture is alive and well in the Conservative Party. So far, neither the Conservative Party leader nor the francophone members of the Conservative Party have spoken out against it.
On this side of the House, we will always defend the official languages. Will francophone Conservative members finally muster the courage to call out their colleague or will they just sit back in silence to keep the peace with every Tom, Dick and Harry in the Conservative leader's office?

Madam Speaker, as I have said before, our party has always supported supply management and will continue to do so. We expect that the other place will pass Bill C‑282.
I know that my Bloc Québécois colleagues are doing their job when it comes to the Senate. We are doing our job when it comes to the Senate too. We are making calls, but once again, I have not heard the official opposition party making many calls about this bill from the other side of the House.

Madam Speaker, our party has always supported supply management. Our party supported Bill C‑282, which is at issue here. We are waiting for the other chamber to pass Bill C‑282.
However, we have not heard much from the party opposite. The members of the official opposition have been fairly quiet on this issue. I hope that they, too, will make some calls to their Conservative colleagues on the other side.
Forestry Industry September 27th, 2024
Mr. Speaker, our hearts go out to anyone who loses their job. We are extremely disappointed that the U.S. Department of Commerce has significantly increased its unfair and unjustified duties on softwood lumber from Canada. These unfair and unfounded U.S. duties on softwood lumber unjustifiably harm consumers and producers on both sides of the border. This latest measure will have a negative impact on workers and their communities.
We will always stand up for the lumber industry here in Canada and Quebec.
