COVID-19 Emergency Response May 14th, 2021

Madam Speaker, Zenari’s has been an Edmonton favourite Italian restaurant for over 30 years, but because it reincorporated in 2020 it did not qualify for the federal relief programs. This business has lost its vast customer base due to the hollowing out of downtown Edmonton caused by this government’s slow vaccine rollout. Statistics Canada reported over 200,000 jobs lost in April alone, and Zenari’s may soon add another 20.

Will the Prime Minister admit that he has failed businesses like Zenari’s, which, if it was south of the border, would be fully back in business?

The Economy May 11th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, as we watch other countries begin to open up and reduce their pandemic restrictions, the world witnesses Canada trailing far behind due to a lack of leadership from the Prime Minister.

I was recently asked by a constituent if there was any hope. Canadians are desperate for leadership and clarity on when they will see an end in sight and how we will navigate through the coming months. They have been asking for transparency and a strategic plan to open the economy.

I rise today to say yes, there is hope with the Conservative Party. We are ready to lead where the Prime Minister has failed. We have a plan to secure the future, which includes the growth of jobs, renewed investment and ample opportunity inclusive to every sector and every person in this country. This means taking full advantage of the abundance of natural resources, highly skilled and educated workforce, and expanded access to global markets.

Together, coast to coast to coast, we will foster a prosperous future for all, ensuring that no demographic and no region is left behind.

Natural Resources May 7th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, that just does not cut it. No stone unturned? The Prime Minister had six years to demonstrate his support for the natural resource sector and what do we have now? The cancellation of Keystone XL and the potential shutdown of Line 5. We are once again facing a last-minute crisis due to the government's lack of action.

When will the Prime Minister pick up the phone, show some leadership and receive assurances from the President that this vital pipeline will continue to operate and enforce the Transit Pipelines Treaty?

Natural Resources May 7th, 2021

Mr. Speaker, my riding has been severely impacted by COVID-19. Many people have lost their jobs, their homes and their livelihoods. More people are homeless, opioid abuse is skyrocketing and more and more families are struggling to make ends meet. The last thing constituents in my riding need is another blow to the oil and gas sector, which provides jobs and opportunities, and helps fund our vital social programs.

What is the government's strategy to ensure thousands more Canadians do not suffer the consequences of another cancelled pipeline?
