Strengthening Military Justice in the Defence of Canada Act December 11th, 2012
Mr. Speaker, could the hon. member comment on the reference made by Mr. Justice LeSage on the issue of criminal records with respect to summary trials? He stated:
However, regarding the constitutionality of the summary trial process, I am satisfied, as was former Chief Justice Dickson, that “the summary trial process is likely to survive a court challenge as to its constitutional validity”.
Would the member like to comment about her source of information or the basis for her beliefs?
Strengthening Military Justice in the Defence of Canada Act December 11th, 2012
Mr. Speaker, I would like to ask the hon. member if she can identify anywhere in the independent reports of former chief justices Dickson in 1997, Lamer in 2003 or LeSage in 2012 where they said that the summary trial system was constitutionally deficient or fundamentally unfair. I ask if she can identify her source of information or any authority.

Mr. Speaker, Canadians can be very proud of the results that their hard-earned tax dollars are actually achieving abroad. Canada's investments are providing food, education, health care and emergency humanitarian assistance to those who need it most.
We will continue to assure Canadians' hard-earned tax dollars are spent in ways that achieve the best possible results. Canadians expect no less.
International Co-operation December 6th, 2012
Mr. Speaker, we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims of Typhoon Bopha. Canada is a compassionate neighbour that stands ready to help in times of need.
That is why we have committed through the Red Cross to addressing the emergency needs of those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines. Canadians can be proud of the help they are providing to very needy people at this time.
International Co-operation December 6th, 2012
Mr. Speaker, that playback is totally out of context with the discussion that was taking place at the time.
Nonetheless, we are committed to newborn child health and it is a matter of priority throughout the needy world. We are as concerned and conscientious about women's health as we are about children. We will continue to do the work on all of these issues, as we are and have been all along.

And a proud one at that, Mr. Speaker, for 40 years.
Under our government, we are achieving real results: 7.8 million chronically food insecure people have been given food in Ethiopia; 900,000 farmers and small business owners earn higher incomes in Bangladesh; and 7.8 million children have been vaccinated against polio in Afghanistan.
We will continue to deliver real results for taxpayer investments and not go the rhetoric route as the Liberals have.
International Co-operation December 5th, 2012
Mr. Speaker, the answer is, yes, I do. We are focused on achieving tangible results for those most in need.
We know that the NDP is anti-investment, anti-business and anti-trade. Now we have learned that the NDP is also anti-international development.
While the NDP is focused on a $21 billion carbon tax, we are focused on helping those most in need.
International Co-operation December 5th, 2012
Mr. Speaker, this declaration was meant to make assistance more effective, and we are doing exactly that. Under our government, we are achieving real results. For example, 7.8 million chronically food insecure people have been given food in Ethiopia, 900,000 farmers and small business owners earn higher incomes in Bangladesh, and 7.8 million children have been vaccinated against polio in Afghanistan.
The opposition voted against our efforts at every opportunity. We will continue to do the good work that we are doing.
International Co-operation December 5th, 2012
Mr. Speaker, that is a classic example of misstating facts. The member does not know what she is talking about. This declaration was meant to make assistance—
