Mr. Speaker, once again, our government is always there to support our agricultural producers in different ways.

We signed the sustainable Canadian agricultural partnership, which will give $3.5 billion to the agricultural sector.

When the Conservatives were in power, they cut funding for science and risk management programs. We are there to help producers in several ways.

Mr. Speaker, there is a lot of good news in budget 2023 for our farmers, starting with the vaccine bank for foot and mouth disease. This was a request made by the various meat sectors in Canada and it was very important to them.

In addition, the advance payments program has been increased, which means we can offer interest-free loans up to $350,000. This is very important to our producers.

Mr. Speaker, again, it is true that things are tough for Canadians right now. Things are tough for our farmers, who have had to deal with a lot of unpredictability because of weather and so forth, but also because of input costs. That said, we are here to support them in a variety of ways.

We are helping them through the sustainable Canadian agriculture partnership. We have also improved the terms of the advance payment program, which allows them to access interest-free loans of up to $250,000. We are here to support them in any number of ways.

Mr. Speaker, once again, we know how hard we have been working with and for farmers in Canada.

I am very pleased to say that we are currently finalizing the agreements for the sustainable Canadian agricultural partnership. This $3.5-billion program will help our farmers improve production and quality, reduce their carbon footprint and be more productive. We are here to help farmers and to ease the transition towards increasingly sound practices as well as to improve productivity and competitiveness.

Mr. Speaker, once again, our government is there to support our farmers. We have been the most generous government in helping them make this transition to an ever more sustainable agriculture.

We know that our farmers are doing everything they can to ensure the future of their farms so they can pass them on to their children. I can guarantee that we will continue to support them.

We are supporting them through the sustainable Canadian agricultural partnership, which represents an investment of $3.5 billion. That is an increase of $500 million to help our farmers.

Mr. Speaker, on the contrary, our government has given farmers more support than any other government.

When the Conservatives were in power, they made cuts to risk management programs and slashed investment in research and innovation. We need research and innovation to be able to improve yields and reduce emissions, while also increasing production. The world relies on Canada to ensure food security. We had the largest budget in Canadian history, at $4 billion.

We are here for farmers.

Points of Order February 16th, 2023

Mr. Speaker, I will retract my comments, no problem. I invite my colleague to share the entire quote, because I have a quote that is different from the one he has shared in the House.

I would love to compare notes with him.

Mr. Speaker, I think my colleague is sharing disinformation; this is totally false. They are twisting the facts of a certain study. They are not giving the full information. It is misinformed, and it is increasing the anxiety of farmers. I think it is totally irresponsible.

Mr. Speaker, that is complete disinformation. It is irresponsible to increase the anxiety of farmers when they are the first ones to be impacted by climate change—

Agriculture and Agri-Food February 15th, 2023

Mr. Speaker, today we celebrate our agricultural producers and the wonderful food they produce in an increasingly sustainable way.

I want to take this opportunity to update people on our latest initiatives and investments. Yesterday, we invested an additional $150 million in the protein supercluster, and this morning I announced nearly $20 million for two initiatives to support our businesses in their search for workers.
