Mr. Speaker, the next petition I am presenting highlights that there is discrimination against girls and it is brutal. It is called sex selection. There are over 200 million girls missing internationally because of the use of sex selection. The petitioners call upon Parliament to condemn the practice of discriminating against girls through the use of sex selection.

Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to present a petition that sadly informs the House that Duane Pearson was tragically killed by a drunk driver. The Pearson family has been left devastated.
Families for Justice is a group of Canadians who have also lost loved ones killed by an impaired driver. They believe that Canada's impaired driving laws are much too lenient. They want the crime called what it is: vehicular homicide. They call on the government to introduce legislation that will provide mandatory sentencing for vehicular homicide.
Digital Privacy Act May 12th, 2015
Mr. Speaker, why is my hon. colleague across the way opposed to the position of the Privacy Commissioner? The Privacy Commissioner came to committee. The fact is that almost every witness agreed. Some did not agree with Bill S-4, and as we have heard, there were diverse opinions. However, the vast majority supported the changes that Bill S-4 presented, and the Privacy Commissioner was part of those.
Why does the NDP ideology get in the way of recommendations from the committee and the Privacy Commissioner?

Families for Justice is a group of Canadians who have also lost loved ones who were killed by impaired drivers. They believe that Canada's impaired driving laws are much too lenient. They want the crime to be called what it is, vehicular homicide. They also want mandatory sentencing for those convicted of this crime.

Mr. Speaker, I am presenting a petition that, sadly, informs the House that Karen East was tragically killed by a drunk driver, a person who chose to drive while impaired. The East family has been left devastated.

The Families For Justice is a group of Canadians who have also lost loved ones through impaired driving. They believe that Canada's vehicular homicide laws are much too weak, and they are calling for mandatory sentencing for impaired driving causing death.

Mr. Speaker, I have two petitions. The first highlights that there are over 200 million missing girls in the world due to the practice of sex selection. There are 92% of Canadians who believe that sex selection should be made illegal. They are calling on Parliament to condemn the practice of discriminating against girls through sex selection.
Ongoing Situation in Ukraine April 29th, 2015
Mr. Chair, I listened carefully to the member's speech. He referred to negotiations and international relations between Canada, Europe, Russia and Ukraine, and the importance of these negotiations and talks. I would agree that we need to be able to talk to one another.
My concern, and I would like his opinion on this, is with regard to the situation with Russia and its motives. Is it willing to negotiate? Is it willing to dialogue and is it able to? We have seen a very strategic plan that comes out of Russia through its media. It is not an open media. It is controlled by the state.
Angela Merkel has met with Putin. Every time the president meets, it is almost like starting from the beginning. Does the member believe Russia is open to dialogue, or is Putin using dialogue as a stalling tactic to move his forces further into Ukraine?
Public Safety April 27th, 2015
Mr. Speaker, with respect to crime and violence, I am proud to be part of a Conservative government that is taking strong action to keep British Columbians safe. We have passed tough new laws to clean up our streets, and we have put criminal gang members behind bars where they belong. We have passed over 30 new tough on crime measures, including new prison sentences for drive-by shootings. Shockingly, the Liberals and the NDP voted against these common-sense measures.
We have also made significant investments in the RCMP to ensure there are enough front-line police officers in our communities. Contrast this with the previous Liberal government, which actually closed down the RCMP training depot because it did not want to pay for new recruits, which was absolutely disgraceful.
People in my riding know that only this Conservative government led by this Prime Minister can be trusted to keep Canadians safe.
Points of Order April 23rd, 2015
Mr. Speaker, when you were addressing the member for Skeena—Bulkley Valley, it was the leader of the official opposition, the NDP leader, who used inappropriate language directed at you. The common swear word, the F-word, was inappropriate to use. It is a disrespect shown in this House. It is not only disrespect to this House, but it is disrespect to you.
I ask the leader of the NDP to unequivocally remove and apologize for those awful comments.
