Mr. Speaker, once again, the Conservatives are recycling the rhetoric of the big platforms, which have been making millions in profits in Canada for years and which were recently asked by the CRTC to contribute to our system, like every other Canadian company.

This is not the first time that Spotify and the others have raised their subscription fees, but never once did we hear the Conservatives complain. This time, however, when it is for something that will help our Canadian artists, especially emerging artists, the Conservatives are up in arms.

I am not terribly surprised to see that they are still in the pocket of the U.S. tech giants.

Mr. Speaker, I would like to remind my colleague and all Quebeckers that the last time the Conservatives were in power, the Harper government did not balance budgets in this country. Not only did it run deficits year after year, but it also lowered taxes for the wealthiest Canadians and cut services for everyone else. Quebeckers remember that.

They also remember all the cuts the Conservatives made to science. The census comes to mind, for example. Mr. Harper decided the census was no longer needed to provide services to the public. Quebeckers will not forget these examples. The Conservatives are a one-trick pony. The only thing they know how to do is austerity.

Mr. Speaker, I would invite my colleague to be honest with Quebeckers because he knows very well that we are not banning the firearms used by hunters and sport shooters. We are banning firearms meant for warfare that are being used by gangs to commit murder on an ongoing basis.

My colleague should know that the primary victims of firearms in Quebec and Canada are women, so it is really shameful that he is opposing our measures to ban assault weapons, particularly in Quebec, after the Polytechnique massacre.

Madam Speaker, my colleague should know that Quebeckers have already experienced Conservative austerity. They said no to that. They know very well that when we invest in them, when we help them with programs, particularly for the most vulnerable, including seniors, we are helping them get through difficult times like those we experienced during the pandemic.

My colleague is well aware that our investments in Canadians did not stop inflation from coming back down to a normal level of 2% today.

Quebeckers wanted nothing to do with the Conservatives' austerity before, and they still do not.

[Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, September 19th, 2024]

Mr. Speaker, the last time Mr. Legault got in bed with the Conservatives, Quebeckers put him in his place. It will be the same thing this time.

I find it rather strange that Mr. Legault and Paul St-Pierre Plamondon are supporting a party that is bent on destroying our most important institution in Quebec, an institution that defends the French language, Quebec culture and Quebec's cultural creators, namely CBC/Radio-Canada. It is shameful.

Those of us on this side of the House will always fight for Quebeckers, for the right to our language and for the right to our culture.

Mr. Speaker, my colleague can yell as loudly as he wants, but Quebeckers remember only too well what the Conservatives did when they were in power. They made cuts to science and to programs that help families, and they cut just about everything they could, because the only thing they know how to do is austerity. They do not know how to invest in the potential of Canadians. That is exactly what they are promising to do yet again.

No, that is not true. Quebeckers want nothing to do with the Conservatives. No matter how loudly the member yells, they no longer hear him.

Mr. Speaker, this summer, I had the opportunity and pleasure to invite my Quebec Liberal caucus colleagues to my riding, Brome—Missisquoi. I gave them a little tour of all the budget cuts made by the Conservatives when they were in power. I took them to the experimental farm in Frelighsburg. The Conservatives do not believe in science and they cut spending on agricultural science. I also took them to a cultural centre that we built because all the Conservatives did was cut spending on arts and culture. Quebeckers remember that all the Conservatives can do are cutbacks and austerity. We do not want that in Quebec.

[Housing, June 13th, 2024]

Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from Vaudreuil—Soulanges, who understands how critical it is to invest in our community infrastructure and in housing for Quebeckers and Canadians across the country.

The recent agreement with Quebec will guarantee $2.8 billion over the next five years, including $535 million this year to help build housing and to build it more quickly.

While the opposition leader spends his time finding excuses for opposing tax fairness, we will continue to focus on delivering help so that all Canadians and their families can get ahead.

We have a plan to help build housing in Quebec. The Conservatives have a plan to insult local leaders, create conflicts and not build any housing.

Mr. Speaker, we see that the Bloc Québécois members are once again trying to stir up trouble with stories like this, when many people in their ridings would like to be able to mark the transition in the monarchy.

They will not be able to do so because the Bloc Québécois made an ideological decision to deprive its citizens of these medals, when they are being made available across Canada. That is really unfortunate for my Quebec friends.

Mr. Speaker, I know that the Bloc Québécois is not really interested in this, but there are Canadians who are attached to our history and who want to recognize that our sovereign, who passed away, was the Queen of the Commonwealth for more than 70 years. When such a thing happens, it is a tradition in Canada for medals to be produced and distributed to those who are interested in such things.

We respect traditions. It is too bad for the Bloc Québécois. Most of its members have refused to allow their constituents to receive any medals.
