Tourism Industry May 16th, 2022
Mr. Speaker, let us look at the facts. Only weeks ago, we had one million arrivals in Canada in one week. In budget 2022, we have $20 million to increase indigenous tourism and $4.8 million for Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada.
Canadians are travelling. Independent tourism numbers are up. Canada is open for business. The Conservatives do not like it, but we sure do.
Housing May 9th, 2022
Mr. Speaker, the Conservatives continue to talk down the Canadian economy with their false economic rhetoric.
However, the latest data from Statistics Canada shows that our GDP grew by 5.6% in the first quarter, exceeding market expectations, and the International Monetary Fund recently forecast that Canada will have the highest growth rate in the G7.
We are here to make life more affordable for Canadians. The economy is growing. Canadians should be proud.

Mr. Speaker, that is a serious issue and Canadians deserve a discussion rooted in facts, not partisan speaking points. The fact is that this is a global phenomenon caused, in large part, by Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine.
We continue to propose concrete measures to make life more affordable for Canadians. The Conservatives continue to vote against them.

Mr. Speaker, at a time when all members of the House should stand united in response to Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Conservatives are just playing politics.
They know that the recent rise in gas prices is the result of this illegal war, but they continue to ignore these facts in an attempt to score political points. While the Conservatives remain focused on politics, we are focused on implementing real measures to improve the lives of Canadians.

Mr. Speaker, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and pursuant to Standing Order 83(1), I have the honour to table a notice of ways and means motion to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 7 and other measures.
Pursuant to Standing Order 83(2), I ask that an order of the day be designated for consideration of the motion.
The Economy April 7th, 2022
Mr. Speaker, since the fall, we have invested over $12 billion in tourism, the hardest-hit sector, so that every single tourism operator in this country can have a chance to get back on their feet. We have reduced the border restrictions. Tourism is now on the rise.
If the opposition, which is opportunistic and obstructionist, wants to help Canadians and focus on affordability, they can do the right thing, bring Bill C-8 to a vote, get us past 40 hours of debate and actually get affordability back on the table for Canadians.

Mr. Speaker, the budget will be presented in the House of Commons today at 4:10 by the Deputy Prime Minister, at which time the House will understand exactly what is in budget 2022.
The economic fundamentals are sound. In 2021, we had the largest trading surplus since 2008. We will have the fastest growing economy in the G7 next year, and the second-fastest this year. It is such good news for Canadians. I do not know why the Conservatives do not want to share it.

Mr. Speaker, I can assure the hon. members of the House that no such information was shared.
Let me share this. Canada's AAA credit rating is intact. We have the lowest debt-to-GDP ratio in the G7. We have the second-fastest growing economy in the world. Next year, we are on track to being the fastest-growing economy in the world. The economy grows, the Conservatives crow, and guess what? Canadians love it.

Mr. Speaker, the Deputy Prime Minister will be sharing the budget with Canadians in just a couple of hours, and I can assure all members of the House that all budget secrecy and all respect for this chamber was respected in the course of budget 2022.
This is an opportunity for me to share the exact economic fundamentals with which we head into this budget: 3.4 million jobs recovered, 6.7% GDP growth and the lowest debt-to-GDP ratio in the G7. The economy is growing. Canadians love it, even if the Conservatives do not.
