Mr. Speaker, last week, a who's who of Conservatives gathered in Alberta for a lecture in a series with far-right commentator Tucker Carlson. In that speech, one of them, which had the premier, Danielle Smith, attend, we heard attacks on francophones, homophobic jokes and the traditional best hits of MAGA politicians.
A Conservative nomination candidate in my riding went on Twitter and had lots of fun on it.
Will his leader stand with the candidate or call him out or is he standing with Tucker Carlson?

Mr. Speaker, that member has clearly found her voice today, but it has been months that she and the Alberta Conservatives have been silent on defending Albertans when it comes to Danielle Smith's risky and reckless approach to taking Albertans out of the CPP. Maybe she agrees with her leader that Ukraine is some far-flung foreign land. Ukraine matters to Canadians, it matters to Albertans and it matters to Ukrainian Canadians. They and she should be ashamed.

Mr. Speaker, I am sure that as the holiday season approaches, the Conservative members in this House thought that Christmas was coming early because it seems that Tucker Carlson is coming to Calgary to host Danielle Smith, and that does not stop there. It is going to be Rex Murphy, Tucker Carlson and Conrad Black in Edmonton just after. The question is, will that member pay for her ticket individually or is there a group discount for Conservative MPs?

Mr. Speaker, there are smart people on the Conservative benches, including trade lawyers and people who understand that contracts between nations and countries need to stay confidential because of important trade secrets.
What do the Conservatives have against the fact that Canada is now third in the world in foreign direct investment? After the United States and Brazil, who is next? It is Canada, ahead of China.
Clearly the Conservatives are against Dow in Fort Saskatchewan. They are against Stellantis. They are against Bécancourt. When are the Conservatives going to be on the side of workers? I do not know. Maybe they do.

Mr. Speaker, it is curious to listen to the Conservatives after their eight years in opposition and hear how little they have learned on foreign direct investment, which is clearly nothing, how little they understand about free trade deals, which is clearly nothing, and how little they understand about creating good, middle-class jobs. What they are clearly against is 2,500 full-time jobs at the Stellantis plant and 2,300 construction jobs there.
It is clear that under a Conservative administration, Canada would be closed for business, but, guess what, not on our watch.

Mr. Speaker, once again, the Conservatives are against a new economy that harnesses all the talents of Quebeckers and Canadians at the frontier of a new economy. All the jobs for Quebeckers and Canadians will be in Montérégie. The members opposite do not want us to sign a good deal with this company. It is not their fault; it is because they do not know what they want to do for the economy.
We are here for Quebeckers and Canadians. We are going to do it in Montérégie and across Canada. That is our plan and we are going to follow through.

Mr. Speaker, the Conservatives have mastered the art of never letting the facts get in the way of their pretty stories.
As for Stellantis, the Conservatives are trying to undermine the 2,500 jobs that will be filled to operate the plant and the 2,300 jobs that will be created to build the plant. How many labour market impact assessments have been approved for Stellantis? The answer is a single agreement, a single position. Those are the facts.

Mr. Speaker, I have a great deal of respect for my Bloc Québécois colleague, but he is completely wrong on this.
We transfer more than $700 million a year for immigration to Quebec. Most of that money is used to teach French to those arriving in Quebec. That includes anglophones who want to learn French.
We are there for labour mobility. We are there to train people in the language of their choice. We are there in partnership with Quebec every day.
