When will the Conservatives show some leadership, take some action and get to work on Canada's health care?

Health November 22nd, 2006

The Liberals invested $5.5 billion to reduce wait times; the Conservatives--

Health November 22nd, 2006

The Liberal 2005 budget increased transfer payments by $32 billion; the Conservatives--

Health November 22nd, 2006

Mr. Speaker, let me remind the member that as Liberals we signed the health care accord. We had a 10 year plan to strengthen health care in Canada and we invested $41 billion; the Conservatives--

Health November 22nd, 2006

Mr. Speaker, the Conservative government has dropped the ball on wait times. Yesterday the minister admitted that he had no details on his pilot project for aboriginal Canadians. The fact is he only has band-aid solutions and no concrete plans to reduce wait times. The minister has given nothing but lip service, and has failed to fight for health care on behalf of all Canadians at the cabinet table.

How does he expect to reduce wait times for all Canadians without any money and without a real plan?

Health November 21st, 2006

Mr. Speaker, the minister does not seem to realize that this initiative is a drop in the bucket. It actually represents a step backward because with the Kelowna accord, under the Liberal government, we invested $1.3 billion for aboriginal health.

Canadians were promised action and leadership, and now Canadians have been told to take a number while the minister figures out his action plan. It has been almost a year. The delivery is long overdue. Canadians are tired of waiting. They want a prescription for the wait time guarantee--

Health November 21st, 2006

Mr. Speaker, we on this side of the House are proud of our record on health care because we delivered results.

Health November 21st, 2006

Mr. Speaker, the minority Conservative government has failed Canadians on reducing health care wait times.

A report today on cancer patients shows how they are taking out loans, racking up financial debt and worrying about financial ruin, all in an effort to pay for their treatment that they so desperately need. The Conservatives promised to reduce wait times for cancer patients, but instead, these patients are waiting longer than ever.

Will the minister explain why he has shown no action on health care, has not taken any action to reduce wait times? Why did the Conservatives make cancer patients a promise that they knew they would not keep?

Income Trusts November 8th, 2006

Mr. Speaker, we are not advocating on this side of the House to turn the Canadian marketplace into a banana republic.

The Conservatives are an international embarrassment for Canada when it comes to the environment and now they have damaged Canada's economic reputation on the international level. The Prime Minister created this problem himself by promising Canadians he would not tax income trusts and as a result of this double-cross, this flip-flop and deceit, innocent vulnerable Canadians have lost their life savings.

Why did the Conservatives scam innocent Canadians throughout the country?

Income Trusts November 8th, 2006

Mr. Speaker, the Conservative income trust deception has now become an international embarrassment.

The Prime Minister promised that he would not monkey around with income trusts. Canadians and international investors actually believed him. They invested their life savings and put them away, only to get burned by this government's betrayal.

This government's deceit has hit the most vulnerable in Canada. It has impacted the international investment community.

After this falsehood and flip-flop, how can any investor ever trust the Conservative government?
