Business of the House February 1st, 2024

Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from Quebec. I assure him that the House of Commons is in for a good time. There will always be interesting things to debate because we keep introducing good bills in the House.

Tomorrow, Bill C-57, an act to implement the 2023 free trade agreement between Canada and Ukraine, will be the subject of debate.

When we return on Monday, we will call Bill C-59, the fall economic statement implementation act, 2023.

I would also like to inform the House that Tuesday and Thursday will be allotted days. On Wednesday we will begin debate on Bill C‑62 on medical assistance in dying, which was introduced earlier today by my hon. colleague the Minister of Health.

Ethics January 30th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, of course the member was able to hear this directly from the Ethics Commissioner this morning when he appeared at committee. He was very clear on this matter. He confirmed that the office had been consulted by the Prime Minister's Office before the Prime Minister and his family went on their vacation. He also confirmed that his office provided advice on this matter and that the Prime Minister took that advice and went on a Christmas holiday with his family. The commissioner told committee members that, as far as he concerned, there is nothing further on this matter.

Ethics January 29th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister and his family took a Christmas vacation. Before the trip, the office of the Ethics Commissioner was consulted on the details to ensure the rules were followed. The Prime Minister and his family then proceeded with the trip and all the rules were followed.
