Royal Canadian Mounted Police January 30th, 2013
Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the hon. member's legal advice.
On this side of the House we have a record that is second to none when it comes to ensuring that employees have the disability benefits they should have. We take a backseat to no one. At the same time we are custodians of taxpayer money and this issue is before the courts.
The hon. member has the freedom to say whatever he wants to say, but we have the burden of government and we have the burden of protecting taxpayer money. We will continue to do so.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police January 30th, 2013
Mr. Speaker, for any employees under our direct control, we have compassion for them and their disability issues. At the same time, we are custodians of taxpayer money. The issue that the hon. member has raised is before the courts.
Parliamentary Budget Officer January 30th, 2013
Mr. Speaker, as I have said before on many occasions in the chamber, we actually created the office. We are committed to the office continuing to exist and we will ensure that Parliament will be able to consider a credible, non-partisan replacement.
May I say to the hon. member opposite that we are proud of our economic record, a record that has guaranteed more than 900,000 net new jobs for people across the country. We are proud of our economic record.
Parliamentary Budget Officer January 30th, 2013
Mr. Speaker, there will be a process to replace the budget officer. As I said yesterday, we created this office. We are committed to maintaining the office and supporting it. The government will ensure that Parliament is able to find a credible replacement.

Mr. Speaker, I repeat: we created that office and we are committed to keeping it in place. The government will ensure that Parliament is able to find a credible replacement.
The Economy January 29th, 2013
Mr. Speaker, in the first place, it is this Minister of Finance, this Prime Minister and this government that cut the average tax for the average Canadian family by $3,000, and we are very proud of that.
When it comes to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, we created that office, we are committed to that office's continuing to exist and we want to ensure that in the future we have a Parliamentary Budget Officer who is non-partisan and credible.

Parliamentary Budget Officer January 28th, 2013
No, Mr. Speaker. As I have already said, the Parliamentary Budget Officer took into account only the reductions included in the “internal services” category, which excludes the substantial savings achieved in the area of administrative services. As I said, and it is important to repeat this, there are other reasons why we support this credible office, and we will continue to do so in the future.
Government Accountability January 28th, 2013
Mr. Speaker, as the Prime Minister already said, we created this office. We can say that it will be essential to keep it. We can assure the House that there will be a credible candidate in the future.
