Statements in the House

Housing February 25th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, forgive us if Canadians recognize that that party has no credibility when it comes to housing. Their leader called middle-class housing shacks and said co-op housing was Soviet-style. That member mocked modular housing. The leader even called on his MPs to boycott the housing accelerator fund, which would have actually helped in their ridings.

On this side of the House, we are serious about getting houses built. That party is just full of obstruction and rhetoric.

The Economy February 23rd, 2026

Mr. Speaker, when it comes to fighting affordability, the member and his leader are missing in action.

We have cut taxes for 22 million Canadians, we have cut the consumer carbon tax, we have cut the GST for first-time homebuyers, and just recently we announced a groceries and essentials benefit that will put up to $1,900 in the pockets of New Brunswick's working families.

It is time for the member and his leader to stand up, stop the obstruction, and fight for Canadian families.

Housing February 12th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, my thoughts and prayers go out to the community of Tumbler Ridge.

The Conservative Party is not serious about housing. The leader called a middle-class house a “shack” and co-op housing “Soviet-style”. There are members on that side who mocked modular homes. To cap it all off, that leader told his members not to advocate for housing programs in their ridings, which would have helped their ridings. On this side of the House, we are serious about building housing. Budget 2025 is going to deliver housing like we have not seen built in generations.

The Economy February 10th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, this is from a member and his leader who supported giving the Canada child benefit to millionaires. They voted against the dental program, the day care program and housing, and the list goes on and on.

On this side of the House, we are going to continue to focus and deliver on affordability. That party is focused on obstruction and slogans.

The Economy February 10th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, the Conservatives want to talk about taxes. We cut taxes for 22 million Canadians. We cut the GST for first-time homebuyers and the consumer carbon tax. Last week, we launched the groceries and essentials benefit, which will put up to $1,900 in the pockets of Canadians. We are focused on affordability for Canadians; they are focused on continued obstruction.

Employment February 9th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, the Conservative leader and that member actually supported giving millionaires child benefit cheques. Think about that. Let me say it again. They supported giving millionaires child benefits. They voted against the school food program. Every other affordability program we have put forth, they have voted against.

That party is focused on obstruction. We are focused on delivering for Canadian families.

Employment February 9th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, Conservative slogans, rhetoric and obstruction do not feed Canadian families. We have cut taxes for 22 million Canadian families. We have cut the GST for first-time homebuyers. We have cut the consumer carbon tax. Just a couple of weeks ago, we announced the Canada groceries and essentials benefit, which will put up to $1,900 in the pockets of working families.

On this side of the House, we are going to continue to be laser-focused on affordability for families. That side should stop the obstruction.

The Economy February 5th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, we have a Prime Minister with world-class business and economic experience. We have cut taxes for millions of Canadians. Just last week, we announced a groceries and essentials benefit that will put up to $1,900 in the pockets of working families.

The Conservative leader has never had a job in the economy. He continues to obstruct. He continues to talk rhetorically. It is time for that leader to get on board and help us build Canada strong.

The Economy February 4th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, it is so nice to finally see real representation in Carleton. Conservative slogans do not feed families. That is why we cut taxes for 22 million Canadians, we cut the consumer carbon tax and last week we announced the groceries and essentials benefit, which would put up to $1,900 in the pockets of working families. It is time for that party and that leader to stop the rhetoric, stop the slogans and join us to build Canada strong.

The Economy February 4th, 2026

Mr. Speaker, Canadians cannot cash the Conservative leader's slogans.

Last week we announced the Canada groceries and essentials benefit that will put up to $1,900 in the pockets of working families. On this side of the House, we have a leader with world-class business and economic experience. Their leader has never had a job in the economy.
